2027, and we’re back in our legendary stomping ground, Arinsal — same silly crowd, same sore heads on the gondola the morning after, same weekend that turns a coach full of strangers out of Barcelona into a proper crew by Saturday lunch.

This year we’ve teamed up with the wine people, Swallow Don’t Spit Wine, and they’re hosting every single weekend. They sort the bus, the hotel, the lift pass, the ski or board hire, dinner both nights, and two proper guided wine tastings before you sit down to eat. You bring the good attitude — they handle the rest.

This is still the only weekend ski & wine trip we do, because we know the full week in the Alps isn’t always on the cards — sometimes life just doesn’t allow it. So we’ve kept it exactly as convenient and fun-filled as it’s always been: two days to ski or board, two nights to party, three weekends across January and February, and a bus full of new best friends every single time.

WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGE:

This one’s not fully all-inclusive, but it’s not far off — coach, hotel, breakfast and dinner, lift pass, ski or board hire, wine and hosts are all booked before you even get on the bus. You pack a bag. Lunch on the mountain and drinks at night are pretty much the only things you have to sort yourself.

🚌 THE BUS

The weekend starts the second you get on the coach — not when you check into the hotel. Hosts ride with you the whole way, about three hours up from Barcelona into the Pyrenees, and the bus is where the strangers-to-mates thing actually happens. Out Friday afternoon, back Sunday night, so you don’t need to burn a day off work, uni or whatever else is going on — just the weekend.

It’s a proper social trip from the second you leave. You’re fitting your boots together, falling on the slopes together, tasting wine together, dancing on tables at après together, and doing it all again the next morning together. Arrive solo or with your own crew — either way, you leave with a bus full of mates.

⛷️ THE MOUNTAIN

Pal Arinsal, in the Pyrenees, about three hours from Barcelona — proper skiing and boarding without the flight. The Pyrenees are older than the Alps and a fair bit quieter, which suits us fine. There’s terrain for absolute beginners right through to people who want to push it — trees, a park for the show-offs, and faster runs that all lead back to après. Ski or snowboard hire costs exactly the same either way, so nobody’s arguing about who got the better deal. Hire’s sorted before you get there — you just turn up and clip in.

🍷 THE WINE

Two seated, guided wine tastings, Friday and Saturday, 18:30–20:00, before dinner both nights — hosted by Swallow Don’t Spit Wine. It’s the thing nobody else on the mountain does: a proper sit-down tasting before you eat, then wine with dinner on top. You don’t need to know anything about wine to enjoy it — you just need to show up.

It’s not a lecture and it’s not optional small talk over a plastic cup — it’s an actual sit-down session, run by the wine people themselves, that gets the whole group talking before you’ve even sat down for dinner. Whether you know your Rioja from your Ribera or you’ve never given wine a second thought, this is the bit of the weekend most Andorra trips skip entirely.

🗓️ HOW THE WEEKEND RUNS

FRIDAY

Coach out of Barcelona, not stupidly early, up through Catalunya and into the Pyrenees. Check into the hotel, get your ski or board hire sorted, then it’s the first wine tasting before dinner — and after that, Arinsal’s bars and clubs for as long as you can handle it.

SATURDAY

Breakfast, then up the mountain for a full day on the slopes — self-organise into groups if you want, everyone’s at a different level and that’s fine. Back down for the second wine tasting before dinner, then round two of Arinsal at night.

SUNDAY

Same again, but we wrap up the skiing by the afternoon and get back on the coach. Sunday night, you’re back in Barcelona — tired, sunburnt in the wrong places, and already talking about the next one.

Who’s this weekend for?

Anyone in or around Barcelona who wants a proper weekend away — residents, expats, students, Erasmus crowd, visitors passing through. Whole coach fills up every single weekend, so you’re never the only one who came without a plan. No days off needed, just a Friday afternoon to Sunday night. 18+, every weekend.

I’m coming on my own — is that weird?

Not even slightly. Loads of people come solo, and the trip starts on the bus — you’ll have a crew before you’ve even checked into the hotel.

I’ve never skied or snowboarded before — will I be lost?

No. Everyone self-organises into groups of similar ability once we’re up the mountain, complete beginners included. You’ll find your level fast, and there’s always someone else on their first run too.

I ski, my mate boards — is it the same price?

Yes — ski or snowboard hire costs exactly the same either way, so nobody has to argue about who got the better deal.

What’s the hotel actually like?

A 3-star hotel in Arinsal, slope-side, and you get your own bed — every guest, every time, twin-share rooms.

What’s the food like?

Breakfast and dinner both days, plus wine with dinner — on top of the two guided tastings before you eat. Lunch on the mountain is on you, so you can eat where and when you want.
